Pair Programming

Two developers working together on the same code, one typing while the other reviews in real time.

Pair programming has two engineers collaborate on one task — the "driver" writes code while the "navigator" reviews, questions and thinks ahead, swapping roles regularly. It spreads knowledge and catches bugs early. Remote teams pair over screen-sharing or tools like VS Code Live Share.

Some remote interviews include a pairing exercise instead of a solo test, since it mirrors real collaboration and shows how you communicate while coding.
