1. Overview

This policy explains what personal data Remotix ("we", "us") collects at getremotix.com, why, and the choices you have. We collect only what a job board needs.

2. What we collect

• Account — your email and username.
• Profile — anything you add: name, bio, location, timezone, salary expectations, skills, work & education history, avatar.
• Resume — any CV file you upload and the text extracted from it.
• Applications & messages — jobs you apply to and messages exchanged with employers.
• Payment metadata — your subscription/purchase status from Stripe (never your full card number).
• Technical logs — IP, user-agent and request path, kept briefly for security and abuse prevention.

3. How we use it

To run your account, show your profile and applications to employers you apply to, process payments, send transactional email (magic links, application updates), rank resumes for employers when that feature is enabled, prevent abuse, and comply with the law. We do not sell your data.

4. Legal bases (GDPR)

We rely on: performance of our contract with you (running your account), your consent (e.g. optional job-alert emails), and our legitimate interests (security and improving the service).

5. AI processing of resumes

When an employer uses AI candidate ranking, the text of your resume and the job description are sent to our AI provider (DeepSeek) to produce a match score and summary that assists the employer's review. It is not automated decision-making that produces legal effects on its own — a human employer decides.

6. Who we share with (sub-processors)

• Stripe — payment processing.
• DeepSeek — AI resume ranking (resume + job text).
• Amazon SES — sending our emails.
• Neon (PostgreSQL) — database hosting (EU / Frankfurt).
• Google — only if you choose "Sign in with Google".
• Our hosting provider — running the servers.

Each acts under contract and only for the purposes above.

7. Cookies

An essential session cookie (to keep you signed in) and a dark-mode preference cookie. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

8. Where your data lives

Our database and servers are hosted in the EU (Frankfurt). Some sub-processors (e.g. Stripe, DeepSeek) may process data outside the EU under appropriate safeguards.

9. Retention

Account and profile data is kept until you delete it. Technical logs are kept up to ~30 days. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.

10. Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data — most of this is available directly from your profile page. You may also object to or withdraw consent for optional processing and, in the EU/UK, lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

11. Security

Sessions are signed, there are no passwords to leak (magic-link login), uploaded resumes are access-controlled, and payments are handled by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures.

12. Children

Remotix is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

13. Changes

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date will change and material changes will be highlighted.
