What Does a UX Writer Do?

Writes the words inside a product — labels, buttons, errors and empty states.

A UX writer crafts interface copy so people understand what to do next: button labels, form hints, error messages, onboarding and empty states. Good product writing removes confusion, and it is designed alongside the interface rather than added afterwards.

The role is highly async-friendly and increasingly recognised as its own discipline. Related: technical writing and copywriting.
