What Does a HR / People Manager Do?

Leads the people function — hiring, culture, policy and employee wellbeing — across an organisation.

An HR (or People) manager oversees how a company treats its people: hiring and onboarding, compensation and policy, performance, and culture. On distributed teams they also navigate employment law across many countries, often working with an EOR to stay compliant.

Much of modern HR is process, policy and communication that works remotely. The role is central to any company serious about a healthy remote culture.
